Reliance and Apple’s Partnership to Sell iPhones with Reliance Jio’s 4G Service
Apple CEO Tim Cook is on his maiden visit to India. Tim recently met India’s top businessman Mukesh Ambani for partnership between Apple and Reliance Industries. The meeting was held at Mukesh Ambani’s house Antilla in South Mumbai. Technology giant Apple Inc and India's Reliance industries Ltd have decided to enter into a long-term partnership.
The partnership will include supplying a couple of million VoLTE iPhones that will work on Reliance Jio's 4G network. It also includes deploying an enterprise solution, jointly developed by the Cupertino-headquartered company and IBM, for Reliance Retail, which is planning to provide Apple iPhones and iPads to its shop-floor employees to improve consumer experience.
Tim Cook went to Ambani’s house for 2 hour. When he reached at home, at that time Mukesh Ambani was not present. Then Tim was represented by his son Akash Ambani, close friend Manoj Modi, MD of Reliance Jio Sanjay Mashruwala, and core team member of Jio and Reliance Retail Pankaj Pawar.
Tarun Pathak, senior telecom analyst, Counterpoint Technology Market Research said that, “Jio is better pitted among all other telcos to form a strategic partnership with Apple to push its products in other corners of the country. Apple Pay is directly in contrast to Jio’s own JioMoney wallet service and in case of Airtel, Wynk is in direct competition to Apple’s Music services.”
Tim also met Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani at Siddhi Vinayak Temple and he visited Mehaboob Studio. The Bollywood King Khan Shah Rukh Khan had hosted a party for Apple CEO Tim Cook at his residence “Mannat”. SRK had invited all B-Town celebs at his home. Well what’s next meeting of Tim is not declared yet. But he will meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this week.
